Joseph Dupré
Joseph Dupré is a UK based artist and doctor, working across various disciplines, including ceramics, bronze and printmaking.
This collection of recent ceramics draws on several themes from his recent work, inspired by sculptural pieces by Picasso, Matisse and Gaudier-Brzeska. Across all media, mark making and the texture of line is paramount, and this is no different in his ceramics, pockmarking the surface of a ceramic bird in the same style as Van Gogh populating an intricate hedgerow in one of his pen and ink drawings. The recurring theme of birds, nature and flight is visible across the range of pieces in this collection, but there is also a playful humour, with pieces such as Leg Spoon paying homage to the clowns and harlequins inhabiting the paintings of Picasso.
